Roasted Upma/ Semolina

What's your idea for the easiest south Indian breakfast?? Here I have posted the preparation of easy and delicate roasted upma/semolina. 


Ingredients

Roasted rava/semolina- 3/4 cup

Onion - medium size diced 

1 Green chilli- small diced 

Chana dal - 1 and 1/2 tbsp

Urad dal - 1 and 1/2 tbsp

Sugar- 1/4 tbsp

Turmeric-1/4 tsp

Milk - 3/4 cup

Water -3/4 cup

Salt

Mustard 

Dry red chilli -1

Curry leaves (to season)

Directions

1. Lukewarm the milk with turmeric and sugar. Heat it in microwave for 1 and 1/2 minute. In a pan splutter mustard, saute dry red chilli curry leaves, chana dal, urad dal, onions and green chilli. Season some salt. 

2. After it gets roasted add the warm turmeric milk and set the flame on low to medium. Slowly add the roasted rava/semolina. Merge well and cook for 3-4 minutes. 

3. Serve it hot and bengal gram (kadala) curry or any complimentary dish of your choice.
