Rasam

Rasam is a common everyday south Indian recipe which you usually get in many south Indian homes. Rasam goes best with any vegetable fry. Rasam is absolutely delicious and it contains a lot of health benefiting nutrients. Rasam is also a perfect remedy for cold and cough.


Ingredients

Tomato – 3 (Cubed)

Tamarind – Gooseberry sized / As per taste

Mustard seeds

Dry red chillies

Curry leaves

Garlic – 5-6 cloves (Crushed)

Crushed pepper - ½ tbsp

Green chilly

Turmeric powder – A pinch

Pepper - 1/2 tsp

Cumin - 1/2 tsp

Asafoetida / Hing – A pinch

Coriander leaves

Salt

Oil


Method

Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Add dry red chillies, curry leaves and garlic. Once the garlic turns golden, add pepper and green chilly. Add turmeric powder,other spices, tomato, tamarind juice and salt. Bring it to boil. Add rasam powder and coriander leaves. Add asafoetida and boil. Switch off. Enjoy the rasam!
