Chicken Wings - Hot and Sweet

Try this crispy hot and sweet chicken wings recipe at home. When crispy fried chicken pieces are mixed with hot and sweet sauce, you get a perfect snack for the party!




Ingredients

For Chicken Wings Marinaton:

  • 300 gm Chicken wings with skin on

  • 1 ½ Tsp ginger garlic paste

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 Tsp soy sauce

  • ¼ Tsp crushed black pepper

  • 1 Tsp lemon juice

  • ½ Tsp red chili powder


To Coat the Chicken:

  • ¾ Cup corn flour

  • ½ Cup maida/ plain flour


For Sauce:

  • 1 ½ Tsp ginger garlic paste

  • ¼ Tsp crushed black pepper

  • 1 Tsp soy sauce

  • ¼ Cup water

  • 1 Tsp red chili powder mixed with 1 tsp water

  • 1 Tsp lemon juice

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 Tbsp corn flour mixed with 2 tbsp water



Instructions

To Fry Chicken:

  • Take 300 gm chicken wings with their skin on.

  • Add 1 tsp lemon juice, 1 & 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste, 1/4 tsp crushed black pepper, 1 tsp soy sauce,1/2 tsp red chili powder to the chicken. Give it a good mix.

  • Now add some salt to taste and mix it such that each piece of chicken gets a good coat of the marinade.

  • Marinate chicken for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator.

  • After 2 hours of marination, take 3/4 cup corn flour and 1/4 cup plain flour mix and coat. Add some salt to it and give it a mix.

  • Take a large plastic bag and pour the flour mix in it. Add all the chicken wings one by one in the bag.

  • Hold and twist the top side of the bag such that some air gets trapped inside. Now, shake the bag well till all the chicken wings get a good coat of flour mix.

  • Shake off the excess flour from the chicken wings and take them out on a plate.

  • Heat some oil in a deep pan to fry the chicken pieces.

  • Fry few chicken wings at a time till they become golden brown from all sides. Do not forget to flip the pieces while frying.

  • Fry all the chicken wings and keep them aside.


To Make Sauce:

  • Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add 1 & 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste and sauté it for a min.

  • Add 1 tsp red chili powder mixed in 1 tsp water, 1/4 tsp crushed black pepper, 1 tsp lemon juice and 1 tsp soy sauce. Sauté this for a min or so.

  • Add the corn flour slurry (1 tbsp corn flour mixed in 2 tbsp water to the pan. Ensure constant stirring to avoid any lumps in it.

  • Pour 1/4 cup water little at a time till you get a sauce of smooth consistency.

  • Add 1 pinch of red food color mixed in 1 tsp water.

  • Now, add some salt to taste and 2 tbsp honey.

  • Sauce is now ready. Add fried chicken wings to the sauce and mix it well so that each piece gets a good coat of sauce around it.

  • Hot & Sweet chicken wings are now ready to be served. Enjoy!
